Weekly Photo Challenge: Silhouette

The definition of a silhouette is “the outline of a body viewed as circumscribing a mass.” In photography, often we achieve that effect by putting light behind the object whose silhouette we want to capture, effectively darkening out the features of the subject instead of highlighting them.

In these above pictures the subject is “Coconut tree leaf”.

    • Thanks a lot Becky. Yes I try to change the look of my blog to suit the content of m posts and create some kind of impression among readers while reading a new post. I do believe that, a theme has a lot of impact on the readers mind; just like the size of the paper and font in a book. I am glad you find me creative. You are one among those most creative people I’ve ever met in my life in past 27 years. So complement from you means a lot.

And yes my book is almost finished. I will be done with it by next week. And I hope it will do well. I have given it all my efforts, heart, mind and time. Now finger crossed! :)

  17. Haven’t you said to me many a time that you are not a photographer? Well, if anything these photo shows how wrong you are. They are great, full of playfulness with the light and what is the theme of this week’s challenge. And despite that silhouettes usually are black, you have been able to enhance these photograph with wonderful use of colour. I simply love both photos, but I think the last one is my favourite.

    • Yes, I’ve said it to you many times before. :) But honestly, I still fill the same. I am just learning few things from what ever tips and techniques of photography available to me for free. I take pictures of those things which look nice, beautiful or different to my naked eye and sometimes I try to capture them with different angles to come up with something different. That’s all I know about photography. I do not even know how to use the lens properly.
But these words of appreciation that to be came from such a wonderful and creative photographer like you made my day for sure. Thanks a lot Otto. You always inspire me with your words. Have a great Sunday!
