Love you like a Sad Song!

Few weeks earlier, I came across a song of Selena Gomez, which goes like this- “I love you like a love song baby”. Now it’s among one of my favorites. But does really love song describe, “how much we love  a person” ? I hope not. Every love story can’t be just like a love song; where only dreams matter not reality. Still it does not mean that, in those love stories love is missing. The only thing is that, Love is not the only thing that can make two people stay together and happy.

“True love begins when nothing is looked for in return.”- Antoine se saint

If a person loves another person; it does not need to be end up with marriage. Some love stories remains incomplete; but still they are beautiful. Then what’s bad to sing a sad song with the same amount of love in it, if it’s not possible to sing a love song.

Why not to try & tell that person, “Do you want to know how much I love you. If yes, then let me tell you that, I do not love you like a love song; I love you like a sad song. A love song is beautiful; and yes it’s magical, lyrical. But I am trying to be practical. I want to see you happy without me, rather that sad with me. I feel sad songs are more beautiful than love songs, just like a girl looks more beautiful, when she has tears in her beautiful eyes. A love song describes how a girl means everything to a boy. But I want to sing a song for you, which may be a sad one; but it’s going to describe how love can be sometimes unconditional; yet pure &real.”

Two people may love each other, but still it may happen that they can never stay together. It does not mean they are not made for each other. They both are like two ends of a bridge, which has no value if they will stay together. They are like two birds flying in the sky that to be in a same direction; but they know they will end up there journey with two different destination. They are like two trains, running towards the same direction, but they can’t run on a single track together. They are like two sides of the river; who can only walk through this journey parallely, but not together holding each other’s hand. But what they can do is, they will not let that, river which is flowing between them to be full of pain, sorrows and regrets. They must walk through this journey, letting the river of love separating them.

“I love her and that’s the beginning and end of everything.” – F. Scott Fitzgerald.

It’s not possible to get whatever we all wish in life; it may be in a relationship or it may be in the virtual world. Many of us want to fly in the sky. But we all know it can’t be possible. But does this ever end up with each one of us hating the beautiful sky? No, we all love the beauty of the sky; even though knowing that, we can never touch it, we can never feel it with our hands. So what we do, we all try to search our happiness, peace while staying on the surface of earth. Similarly what if two people who can never touch each other, still they can still love each other, they can pray for happiness of each other. They can still keep their love as pure as the water flowing through the river. And no one can stop them in doing so.

So why to meet that person whom we love at some point of time in life, with regrets, anger and tears in our eyes; why not to keep those emotions like love and care for each other… with us through out the whole journey of life. So if you can’t love a person just like a love song; then do not feel ashamed or hurt to love that person just like a sad song.

“Do not fall in Love …. If you can then try to rise in love and rise to such a height that one day, you both can be proud of your love. ” Sometimes it’s better to live life with little bit of emptiness in it; that emptiness is going to motivate you to do something extraordinary in life.

  1. Hi,
A beautiful photo you have chosen for your post, very nice.
A very good post and very nicely written.
I think the quote from Helen Killer is very true.

  2. “Two people when love each other, and yet they can never stay together. It does not mean they are not made for each other. They both are like two ends of a bridge, which has no value if they will stay together. …. They must walk through this journey, letting the river of love separating them.” No! You couldn’t mean that, Arindam! This breaks my heart.

Love joins. Does it not? Oh, I am sad at the thought of another possibility.

    • I am really sorry, if this post broke your heart Priya. :) That’s why I was not sure, if I should write this thought or not. But at last I decided to go with it.
But to be honest, I do not think, love always joins. And I really do not want many people to experience this another possibility. But nothing in life can be predicted. So we must have to live with, what ever life will bring in our way; and we must need to act sensibly and to the best of our ability in those situations. Am I wrong while saying this?

      • True words Arindam! Often love is the most beautiful thing in the world..but there is the other side…And you are so right, what ever life brings in our way, we have to deal with & do the best out of this situations :)

    • Thank you. :) I am really glad you like it!
I have no idea, what’s “World-Cuddle-Day” all about! I am going to check that one next. :)
Nice to see you here after a long time.

      • It s the same like “World-Kiss-Day” or so.. Cuddle just means to hug & cuddle someone you really like or love, enjoy the time together, show how much this ( or these) person(s) mean to you :)

  3. What a beautiful interpretation and explanation of love. I think the sorrow you express is universal, something we all feel at some time, dating back to Romeo and Juliet, and farther back to the Greek Gods and all the smiting they did to each other… :) And even before that.

And it’s not just people — I believe all creatures are capable of love, in their own ways. Love is such an expression of wanting to belong, and be accepted, is it not? To be included, cherished, looked to, admired, enjoyed, and most of all, to be devoted, and to rise up, as you mentioned.

This line, “just like a girl looks more beautiful, when she has tears in her beautiful eyes” speaks directly to the sorrow, the longing of love. For when you see someone you love cry, you see a physical expression of one of their deepest emotions, and that’s a pull, a drive for connection.

    • Thank you Melissa. :) But why to go back to time of Romeo and Juliet, Laila and Majnu or Greek Gods; the sorrow is still flowing in lots of people’s hearts in today’s time also. Some confess that& some do not. It’s may be they are ashamed of that part of life, and they don’t want to remember that. That thought I tried to pass on with this post. It was a small attempt to tell everyone that, we are not only born to be loved by those people, whom we want to love us. We are also born to spread the love with out expecting anything in return.
This time i was having a feeling while writing that, you’d point out , that line where I wrote about a girl having tears in her eyes. And you again caught my fav line in this whole post.
As always it was my pleasure to read your comment Melissa. :)

  4. Great quote at the end! Love is tough, and confusing, and you’re right we can’t all get whatever we wish. Love is beautiful though, and you have some great reflections here!

  5. “The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched – they must be felt with the heart.” This post has love all over it and I can’t stop smiling!!! I bet you touched a lot of hearts with this post and inspire them to bring out that love in their hearts. They say one of the greatest acts of loving is letting go so the other person can find their happiness. It’s a big sacrifice but true love is selfless . Bro, thanks for today’s wonderful inspiration. Best wishes to you and your family.

    • Do you really think I touched a lot of hearts with this posts! :) I intended that only, but not sure if I succeed. :)
” It’s a big sacrifice but true love is selfless”. This is the tagline of this whole post. I just wanted to transmit this thought through words. I am really glad it reached you bro. As always nice to see you here and to read your comment.
Best wishes to you & your wonderful family bro!

  6. Excellent Arindam! I’m running out of positive adjectives to describe your posts :-) As you said, love songs are often beyond practically; that is to say, most love songs are fantasy worlds. It’s the sad songs that really express feelings towards a certain person.

And I love the analogies. “They are like two trains, running towards the same direction, but they can’t run on a single track together. They are like two sides of the river; who can only walk through this journey parallely, but not together holding each other’s hand.” Couldn’t have said it better my friend!

    • Thanks a lot Joe. You liked this post, that’s enough for me; it’s not a big deal if you are running out of positive adjectives. :) Yes you are right buddy, love songs are beyond practicality. We can’t live in a fantasy world, which we create through our dreams, where every wish we wish gets fulfilled. So it’s always better to live in a real world, with accepting the reality. :)
It’s my pleasure to see you here Joe. Keep the good work going through your blog. You are on high these days. :)

  7. It is what we do, not what we say that shows what is in our heart. My late husband was not a man of words; he did all he could to take care of me and make me happy…

    This is true love.

    Blessings – Maxi

    • Thanks a lot. What a beautiful line you wrote, “It is what we do, not what we say that shows what is in our heart.” Beautifully said.
Your husband was a really nice man. Your this comment, increased my respect for him.
      Best wishes to you.

  8. I agree. I’ve reached the period in my life where I’ve learned to put my trust in actions, not words. I guess that’s why I’m so jaded about politics. This is the perfect post to make us look at our own actions, that’s the thing we can change to show others our love, yes?

    • My reply may make you laugh, but let me say it, although I am too young, still I’ve also reached the period in my life where I’ve learned to put my trust in actions, not in words. :)
And yes you are perfect, we need to analyze our own actions, then only we can show our love to others.
It’s always nice to read a comment for you. Thank you!

  9. Another touching post, Arindam. You are a hopeful romantic, my friend. Whether in love with your ideal of love; or actually in love with the one who does not, or cannot reciprocate; or in search for love, you represented the character of love in all those situations. Well-done. Keep writing and searching, and sharing.

    • Thanks a lot Mj. :) It means a lot, as it came from a person like you, who is always spreading the love through his blog. But one thing you got wrong, which is in reality “I am hopeless romantic”. :)

  10. What a romantic you are Arindam :)
But you are right…love has many facets…hues…and colors…through it all it is important to love and spread love…that is definitive…
    Wishing you love and laughter…always…

  11. The song from ‘Julie’ reminded me of the old days when I was quite crazy about it. Thanks for the video. It’s been ages!

You have put so much of yourself in this post, Arindam. It makes me wonder, in a good way. :)

    • Yes, It’s a beautiful song and one of my favorites. So I thought I should share it with everyone through this post.
Thanks a lot. It was just a thought, which I wanted to share. So I did it. :)

  12. I can see you’re an old fashioned romantic from your choice of photo.

I’d like to add my two cents to a few of the discussions above – I believe that you must be honest in your blogs. We read your posts because we want to know who you are and what you think.

    • Yes you are right, I am bit old fashioned, I confess that. :)

I am going to completely agree with you; we all need to be honest with our posts. I am not sure if you found this post an honest one or not. But this post was something, that was true and honest. We all experience this feeling, at least once in our life time. So I thought to share it with all.

  13. i love u like a sad song.. what a wonderful thought arindam.. and yes i agree with you.. the best (not the most entertaining maybe!) but the most poignant are the ones that remain unfulfilled.. have you had a chance to read or watch “bridges of madison county” (I am partial to the book)its the most beautiful love story i know and its about two people who cant be together..
